Design Challenge : Reskinning Warframe Conclave Screen
My primary design challenge in this project was to overhaul the existing user interface for Warframe's Conclave game mode. This task encompassed a comprehensive redesign, including the creation of a selected state and hover mode for weapon loadouts.
Scope and Significance:
Warframe's Conclave is a pivotal aspect of the game, offering intense player-versus-player (PvP) battles within the Warframe universe. The user interface for this mode plays a critical role in ensuring that players can efficiently manage their loadouts, select weapons, and navigate the intricacies of PvP combat.
Reskinning the Interface:
To revamp the Conclave screen, my objective was to not only enhance its visual appeal but also improve its usability and functionality. This involved a complete visual overhaul, reimagining the interface's aesthetics while maintaining its core functionality.
Selected State and Hover Mode for Loadouts:
A significant part of this redesign involved creating a selected state and hover mode for weapon loadouts. These features aimed to provide players with immediate visual feedback as they navigated the interface. When a loadout is selected or hovered over, players should feel a sense of responsiveness and engagement, ultimately enhancing their overall gaming experience.
Things to keep in mind
In the process of redesigning Warframe, one of the most significant challenges I encountered was the game's extensive and dedicated fanbase. Warframe has cultivated a passionate community over the years, and any changes to the game needed to be executed with great care and consideration. This challenge necessitated a delicate balance between innovation and preservation.
Preserving Cultural Cues:
One of my primary concerns was to preserve the cultural cues and gameplay elements that had already been deeply ingrained in Warframe's identity. These elements were cherished by the players and had become an integral part of the gaming experience. Altering or removing them risked frustrating the existing player base and potentially alienating long-time fans.
Maintaining Familiarity:
To address this, I made the strategic decision to maintain the core layout of the game's user interface. This decision was rooted in the belief that dedicated users should feel a sense of continuity and familiarity when transitioning to the redesigned version. By keeping the layout unchanged, players would effortlessly locate essential features and navigate the game world they had grown accustomed to. This approach aimed to minimize disruptions and facilitate a seamless transition for players, ensuring they could continue enjoying the game without any significant adjustments to their established gaming habits.
In conclusion, the decision to retain the familiar screen layout was made with a deep understanding of the importance of player comfort and a respect for the cultural legacy of Warframe. This strategic choice sought to strike a balance between innovation and the preservation of what makes the game beloved by its community.
Major UI/UX changes

In this section, I will delve into some of the significant UI/UX transformations that were implemented in the redesign, focusing on the game mode visuals and weapon loadouts.
1. Game Mode Visuals:
One of the key challenges in the original design was the prominence of game mode icons, which occupied a substantial portion of the screen's real estate. While these icons served their purpose, they obscured the captivating gameplay images, potentially diluting the immersive experience.
Solution:
To address this issue, I opted for a bold yet elegant solution. I eliminated the icons from the static state of the screen, allowing players to enjoy unobstructed views of the engaging gameplay visuals. Instead, I reimagined the icons, transforming them into a dynamic indicator of the selected or highlighted game mode. This not only enhanced the visual appeal but also streamlined the interface, providing players with a more immersive gaming experience.

2. Weapon Loadout:
The existing weapon loadout interface had its limitations, as it provided only minimal information, with the finer details hidden behind hover pop-outs.
Solution:
Recognizing the pivotal role of weapons in the Warframe experience, I took a comprehensive approach to redesigning the weapon loadout interface. In the new design, I ensured that the weapons within the selected loadout were constantly visible, offering players immediate access to crucial information. Meanwhile, I retained the ability to access additional details through a hover interaction, striking a balance between accessibility and information depth. This change empowered players with a more informative and user-friendly interface while preparing for battles in the Warframe universe.
These major UI/UX changes were integral to enhancing the overall gaming experience, combining aesthetics with functionality to create a more immersive and player-centric interface for Warframe's Conclave mode.
